Notable obituaries during 2015

Retired Air Chief Marshal Hrushikesh Moolgaonkar passed away on 9 April 2015 in Pune, Maharashtra. He was 95. He was recipient of the prestigious Param Vishisht Seva medal and Mahaveer Chakra. Lieutenant General Hanut Singh (retd) on 12 April 2015 passed away in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. He was 82. He was a 1971 Indo-Pak war hero and one of the most famous officers of the Indian Army. He was a recipient of the Maha Vir Chakra Punjab’s World War 2 hero Retd colonel Harwant singh passed away in Patiala, Punjab on 6 th august. During the first Independence Day celebration of 1947, he was the officer in charge of the flag hoisting ceremony. Former inter services intelligence chief Lt.colonel (retd) Hamid Gul passed away. 11 TH chief of naval staff, Ati vishisht seva medal and Param vishisht seva medal awardee Admiral Radhakrishna Hariram Tahiliani passed away in October. Major Rescue operations by Indian Army during 2015

OPERATION ALL OUT Indian army led for flushing out bodo militants in Assam. OPERATION MAITRI       Indian Army aided Nepal which got struck after 7.8 magnitude earthquakes. This operation involved number of Indian military aircraft and choppers along with bus services through road route. Along with them more than 1000 trained personnel of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) will also take part in this operation. Since the launch of operation more than 1000 Indian citizens have been safely flown from Nepal. It should be noted that India was the first nation to respond to the earthquake crisis in Nepal, by launching a full-fledged rescue and relief. What is one rank and one pension - OROP in India ?

Union government appointed former chief justice of Patna high court L.NARASIMHA REDDY as head of the judicial committee on ONE RANK ONE PENSION (OROP) scheme  to look into the implementation of scheme for retired defence personnel. OROP scheme will provide ex-serviceman of the same rank and same length of service uniform pension regardless of date of retirement. It will benefit over 25 lakh veterans and war widows from all three services- Army, Navy and Air Force. Pension would be re-fixed every five years and future enhancements in rates of pension would be automatically passed to the past pensioners. It would be re-fixed on the basis of the average of minimum and maximum pension of personnel retiring in 2013 in the same rank and with the same length of service. In case of past pensioners, it will be re-fixed on the basis of pension of retirees of 2013 and the benefit will be from 1st July 2014. Defense pacts signed by India with other countries during 2015

India and Spain have signed an agreement on Mutual Protection of Classified Information. This agreement provides the framework for enhanced cooperation in the defence sector between both countries. Mutual Protection of Classified Information is a primary pact that a country agrees to before embarking on deeper talks on defence cooperation. India and Vietnam signed joint vision statement on defence cooperation (2015-2010),on may.
